A Maltese actor based in Toronto has pledged to donate the $125,000 prize money from an online video contest to the Haiti Relief Fund if he wins.
Calling on the support of his countrymen, Brian Mifsud is in with a chance of winning the cash with a short video made by him and his acting group. The video was in first place out of eight entries for the first three weeks of the contest until an internet celebrity submitted an entry and surpassed viewer rankings for all the other entries due to his big fan base.
Mr Mifsud said: "It would be great if my country supported us in our venture. If only one quarter of the country watched our video, we would win! There are only seven days of the contest remaining. Please help this money go to a charity not to a celebrity who already has enough money."
The Haiti Relief Fund was set up in the wake of the7.0-magnitude earthquake leaving over 230,000 people dead and millions more homeless.
