Caritas collects more than €270,000 for Haiti

Donations collected by Caritas Malta in aid of the earthquake victims and their families in Haiti reached €270,391.

Caritas Malta said that the people’s generosity had once again surpassed expectations..

The fund was now closed and the money collected would be transfered to Caritas Internationalis. More information on their misison in Haiti is available on www.caritas.org .

The fundraising campaign was iniated on the January 14, following the devastating earthquake of January 12.

The collection was made with the approval of the Archbishop Paul Cremona OP Gozo Bishop Mario Grech, who had appealed for the people’s generosity.

This is the second largest sum ever collected by Caritas Malta for emergency appeals.
