BRIFFA. On March 21, DORIS, née Agius, of Valletta, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her dear husband, Dr Paul V. Briffa, her children Diane and her husband John Caruana, Norman and his wife Susan, Claire and her husband Charles Zahra; her grandchildren Abigail, Paul, Nathan and Michela; her only sister Vivi and her husband Tony Borg and their children Frank, Albert, Anthony, Mario and their respective wives and families; her in-laws, cousins, nephews and nieces, other relatives and numerous friends. The funeral leaves her Sliema residence today at 2 p.m. for St Gregory's parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Malta Hospice Movement, Balzan, will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

VASSALLO. On March 22, at Zammit Clapp Hospital, INEZ, née Eminyan, widow of Emanuel, aged 89, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her sad loss her beloved children Tanya and her husband Paul Debono, Maurice and his wife Victoria, Sylvana and her husband Magistrate Dr Silvio Meli, Angela and her husband Paul Attard, her brother, Rev. Prof. Maurice Eminyan, SJ, her grandchildren Franco and his wife Veronica, Laura and her husband Simon Grima, Maria Pia, Noella, Martina, Giulia, Stefan, Maria Nicola, Arianne, Maurice, Jean Pierre, Rebecca and Antoine, her great-grandchildren Sophie, Beppe and Paula, nephews and nieces, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Zammit Clapp Hospital today at 2 p.m. for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. VELLA - CARMELA, widow of Saviour, aged 92, comforted by the rites of Holy Church, passed away peacefully on March 22 at the Gozo General Hospital, Residenza Sant'Anna. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Eddie and his wife Maryrose, Guido and his wife Maria, and Mary, widow of Michael Debono; her grandchildren ShirleyAnn and her husband Emerson Mulvaney, Christian, Yanica, Bianca and her husband Dathan Muscat, Alain and his fiancée Alessandra Valletta, Earl, David, Rodney and his fiancée Christiana Attard; her nieces Mary Debono Borg, wife of Anthony and Sonia Mifsud, wife of Victor, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Gozo General Hospital tomorrow at 3.30 p.m. for St Peter and St Paul Basilica, Nadur, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 4 p.m., followed by interment at Nadur cemetery. International night

The Arabic Culture Information Society will be putting on an International Night on March 30 at the Golden Tulip Vivaldi Hotel, St Julians, at 7.30 p.m.

The event will feature traditional Middle Eastern dance, music from Slovenia, Sudan, Japan, Jordan and Malta as well as traditional food from over 20 countries.

The night is being organised with the help of Malta Tourism Authority, Golden Tulip Vivaldi Hotel, JEF Malta, Malta Anthropology Society, Women's Federation for World Peace, Kooperattiva Kummerċ Gust, Stand4Palestine-Malta and VersAgħtini il-Kelma Maltija.

Computer technician course

The Kalkara local council is organising a computer technician course leading to the Technician A+ qualification starting on April 6. Lessons will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5.30 to 7.30 p.m.

Students will be assessed by means of tests and a final exam, after which the top two students will be sponsored for the Network A+ course.

While preference will be given to Kalkara residents, those interested can call the council on 2166 5500.

Course in Chinese culture

The Confucius Institute of Malta is offering a course in Basic Notions in Chinese. It will run for nine weeks, starting on April 20 and ending on June 15.

There will be two 90-minute evening sessions per week. The aim of the course is to introduce members of the public to basic Chinese and its cultural concepts.

MaltaPost's branch in J. F. De Chambrai Street, Għajnsielem has closed for refurbishment and will not reopen until May 24. Postal services will still be available from a temporary location at Ta' Loretu church premises in Triq il-Fawwara, Għajnsielem.
