Ghostly celebrations

Afghan women in white burqas visiting the Hazrat-i Ali shrine in Mazar-i-Sharif, the centre of Afghan New Year's or Nauruz celebrations, last Saturday. The pre-Islamic festival is celebrated annually as people from across the war-torn country gather in ancient Balkh province's capital in northern Afghanistan which holds a shrine attributed to the religion's fourth Calif, Hazrat-i Ali.
