They should also add the bus shelter in front of the Coastline Hotel (direction Bugibba) as someone drove right through it last week (don't ask how)

The Pope's arrival is indeed near! New bus shelters on their way, new pots and plants in Attard near Mount Carmel hospital and fixing of the walls in Mdina Road Rabat. Next in line are the flowers on the central strip near the Attard Corinthia Hotel lights.
Get the Pope every year please. And while you're at it... get the queen or whoever you want as long as we fix stuff :)

In some weeks time, a lot of these bus shelters will be the full of posters for discos. The thing is that they stick these posters during night with this very sticky glue and then they leave them there after the venue. If you call the event organizers and tell them to take away these posters, they will simple say that THEY didn't. They are just the organizers..

what about the bus shelter at Savoy terminus if you call it that.It does'nt offer any protection from the strong wind that passes through that street nor from the rain, moreover it is inadequate and in urgent need of replacement.

Only someone who does not use the local bus transport could describe the last generation of bus shelters as "functional & high-quality". The structures neither shelter from the sun or rain nor do they offer cover in windy conditions - all those who use the bus service in St Julians/Sliema area will testify to this being the case. Perfectly adequate structures in iron were demolished and replaced by these flimsy alternatives which in winter are invariably damaged by the elements. The "old" shelters were just as their name denotes "shelters" - the new "glass" setups are advertisement billboards masquerading as structures offering shelter.

Good news. These new bus shelters will also provide a good platform for cultural promotion within the network of public transport both in Malta and Gozo.
If I may be bold enough to suggest here, but maybe the limestone slabs from the dismantled older shelters be recycled somehow.

Why not have just one or two sides in glass with the roof solid with a wide awning to provide shelter from the sun. Does anybody ever think of the function of something like this? Glass houses are not good when you have 9 months of summer-like weather.

@ J. Tonna.
Correct. And they were not easy to vandalise, either.

High quality glass houses i think they mean , try using them in summer and in winter you still have to keep your umbrella open inside the bus stops because you will get wet. Personally i think that we could use better ideas instead of glass,

As per concern of bus shelters' users has the local elements been taught of ? and was there ever a choice / tender of variouse designs and functionality ?Whoever is resp. should lessen clatter as much as possibile .Look at the countless lamp posts across the country almost always offering a truly untidy athmospher all over Malta .Will there be adverts along these lam posts for His Holiness to admire ?
bus shelters should first offer what they state and with modern technology and materials it is possibile indeed ,otherwise well done for considerations .

The case officer involved up to 19/32010 had not even seen the new proposal.

First of all Transport Malta should see that they do not fix 'public saunas' because as they are they are not usable, leaving you so exposed.
The ones we see are neither fit for Summer, as they do not cover you from the sun and neither for winter as they do not cover you from the rain. In my opinion the best ones were those made of Malta stone as they kept us covered from the rain and the sun.

@ J.Tonna, you hit the nail on the head, the modern bus shelters are deathraps in themselves,as the old ones protect us from everything even a car accidnt, but with the new ones it`s a disaster waiting to happen.

Great - so in the long hot summer months these "shelters" will serve as human incubators as well! They might shelter commuters from rain but certainly not from the sun!
