Julia Farrugia's letter in The Sunday Times a fortnight ago makes some serious allegations in my regard, stating that I had sent "threatening text messages" and had "lashed out" and "harassed" her.

I have no qualms about publishing the full unedited text of the messages I sent, so that readers can make up their owns minds as to whether such text messages were threatening in nature or whether Ms Farrugia is simply hyping-up matters for publicity's sake.

The thrust of the messages was that I invited Ms Farrugia to moderate a discussion on campus I was holding during the MEP election campaign, and, upon her unceremonious rebuttal, I accused her of leaking information which we had exchanged informally.

Ms Farrugia failed to make any mention in her letter of the unsolicited e-mails in the form of electronic newsletters being sporadically sent by the Labour Party. She has instead latched on to the fact that her One TV programme is over.

The solution is glaringly obvious - Ms Farrugia could, for consistency's sake, write a letter to a newspaper to condemn such acts.
