Sicilian pleads guilty to trading illegally
A Sicilian from Palermo was this afternoon fined €960 after he pleaded guilty to acting as a hawker in Dweja without the necessary permits and licence.
Giuseppe Cataldo, 48, of Capaci was also accused of selling his wares from a vehicle without giving fiscal VAT receipts as required by law.

Fiscal reciepts is one thing, last friday I tried to park in Fgura about 50 meters away from the local council's office, a hawker selling veg took up 3 parking spaces, nearly 2 with his van and the rest with his display of goods, where are the wardens?

These kind of sellers or hawkers selling merchandise to persons while
walking through streets are on the rise. These are detrimental to
our shops who pay for their licences and more. On the other side
these illegal hawkers are stealing money from our economy by
not paying VAT. The police should keep an eye on these illegal
hawkers and the Maltese should report this illegal trade to the police.

Picking on the fry but not on the sharks. Looking at the medical professions would be a start.

A street trader who doesn't give a fiscal VAT receipt - that's a rarity - NOT.
Who do we report these traders to? The ones who don't give receipts?
