Volunteers from five leading organisations yesterday lent a hand to as many charities to mark Corporate Social Responsibility Day.

The ninth activity of its kind, this year's participants were Deloitte, the Gasan Group of Companies, HSBC Bank, Simonds Farsons Cisk and the Tumas Group.

All five pooled funds and carried out jobs at homes for children and adults facing difficult social situations. Some funding also came from the Junior Chamber International and the Association of the Sovereign Military and Hospitaller Order.

HSBC Bank employees redecorated Villa Chelsea, where they were visited by President George Abela and Archbishop Paul Cremona.

Deloitte employees carried on with some works they had started last year at Aġenzija Appoġġ and Dar Qalb Ta' Ġesù in Sta Venera while workers of the Gasan Group of Companies lent a hand at Inspire in Marsascala.

Simonds Farsons Cisk staff volunteered a day's work at Fra Diegu Home in Ħamrun and Tumas Group employees were at the Young People's Unit in Attard.
