A Tunisian man was yesterday accused of stealing about €5,000 from a house in St Paul's Bay.

Saber Shaban Elkekli, 30, was also charged with relapsing.

The accused asked for bail but Police Inspector Therese Sciberras, who prosecuted, expressed fears that the man could abscond.

She also pointed out that Mr Elkekli had received a suspended sentence two years ago, which was still in effect. On hearing this, Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna denied bail.
