MIA celebrates redefined vision

Malta International Airport this morning celebrated its redefined vision with balloons and dancers who surprised users with entertainment.
The company yesterday launched a new logo representing the semblance of movement in flight, Maltese hospitality, a pleasant climate and comfort.

MIA is what other Maltese services should look like. Interestingly, there is a huge (comparable to oceans) difference between certain services.
Sure, MIA lives mostly off tourism, but doesn't ATP (bus drivers) also get their income from tourism as well?
Anyway, MIA, keep up the superior service. Others, take notes...

My business travels of the last 35 years have taken me through scores of airports around the world. MIA is without doubt one of the very best. However, please revisit the revised website design. The colours clash, but worse is that the fonts are way too small to be easily read on Netbook or Blackberry type devices.

Why all this acrimony against MIA? Imagine we still had the old airport. MIA is a great airport for a country our size, pleasant and well kept. So other airports of large European cities are totally horrendous. Does nothing that happens in Malta ever please anybody? Are we never proud of anything except our ability to complain incessantly? I wonder when politics is going to creep in to this thread @Andrew Camilleri, you should read some marketing books to get an idea of what they are trying to inspire. @Peter Grech, what do you mean "give the money to the client?". This is rebranding by a profit making organisation and not a charity. I would suggest you read marketing books too!!!

Balloons and dancers surprised users at MIA this morning. It is a fact that MIA's profits (and hence the shareholders' return) depend on airport users. But where are the employees in all this? The news item posted on MIA's website regarding the financial results of the Company for 2009 makes no mention of the employees except for the fact that staff costs increased marginally by 0.6%. Why was no appreciation made to the employees? Shame. Let's hope that the "pleasant climate and comfort" is also shared by MIA staff.

these maltesers dont know what it means to live in 2010. They think that by checking prices at cafeterias or saving money on trivialities, they are going to get rich. Spare us your pessimism and your bigotry. If you dont want coffee dont take it from the cafeteria. No one asked you to.

Why is it that people tend not to see the good, but the bad in things?

I would just like to say I travel very frequently and would venture to say that malta is one of the best airports that I have visited. Manchester could learn some lessons from the layout, accessability and ammenities. I dont think a change of logo would influence any of these areas and would not have any bearing on passenger numbers.

the new logo resembles a hot air balloon at first glance, and speaking of balloons whose idea was it to allow hundreds of balloons inside the airport terminal? Surely it must be of some concern to the airport security personnel if these balloons start popping off at random inside a terminal. If you tried popping hundreds of balloons near an American embassy or inside a major airport in the world you would have security personnel questioning you in no time.

@ Peter Grech:
MIA do/did give it back to the clients ... in kind note cash. On average the service travellers receive at Malta's airport compares very well with other European airports despite its physical size. Their service is good value for money. Companies are not in the business of giving money to clients ... but in giving good service to clients; which I hasten to add MIA does.

Can't they just change a logo without all the bull? Does a change in logo have to be justified by the fact that it resembles 'movement in flight' or whatever other rubbish the marketing department has come up with?
The logo does not have to represent anything, because frankly, no one really gives a rabbit's posterior about it. It's just a logo.
