Civil status certificates no longer requested for government services
People applying for government services will, from April 16, no longer be required to provide birth, marriage or death certificates since the departments concerns will get the certificates directly from the registry, with no costs for the applicants, Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said has announced.
He said the purpose of this measure was to reduce bureaucracy, improve collaboration between government departments and make fuller use of the government’s IT system.
Dr Said said that those employees who have access to civil status certificates are bound by strict confidentiality regulations in line with the Data Protection Act.

At last... What about Work Book Entries from ETC that will cost you 3 Euro each? What about copies of ID cards needed by diverse departments, what about other needs that can be optained from department to other department. I saying this because for the housing authority I had to pay 12 euro for a piece of paper called work book entries, three days leave to optain these and to go to the housing authority. Bureaucracy is still there, but at least it is starting to being withdrawn.

Good. It was said that there is to be a link between, CIR, the Licencing Department and Social Services if I am not mistaken. Why doesn't this incude, ETC the VAT department too so that there will be more of a clamp down on abuse?
