The Malta Union of Teachers yesterday announced it was suspending industrial action in state schools.

The MUT had instructed state school teachers not to perform duties unrelated to teaching as it pressed its demand for higher allowances after teachers' responsibilities were increased. The union said it suspended the action, which had been running for over a month, after communicating with the finance and education ministries, saying it saw a good starting point for discussions.
