Louis Galea cleared for Court of Auditors post

As you can see this very newspaper shows that the Socialists and the EPP voted in favour of Louis Galea. A few points of info, there are 29 members on that Committee, 11EPP, 8Socialist, 3Liberals, 2Greens, 5other groups. there were 7 new nominees and 3 reappointments to be voted upon on yesterday. I am pretty sure that the whole focus was not on Louis Galea as you ppl seem to imply( in the true Maltese spirit, the world revolves around us). The rapporteur was Socialist but I presume that asking the question is part of that job, dont you ppl always complain that the EP never does anything then when they actually do you complain! boggle boggle. The heat was on Szabolcs Fazakas and the it was the EPP that caused all the commotion. So people hold your horses before pointing fingers and understand that not everything is about you. Having said all that Congratulations to Louis Galea and good luck for his new apppointment.

Sincere congratulations to DR. Galea for his new appointment as member of the European court of Auditors. You have served your party and Malta well in the past . You deserve the new post and we are all sure of your ability of making a good show in your new task. We cannot let this pass however. Certain questions put to you bear the mark of being supplied by our Maltese socialists friends. This of course was done out of love for our country.

Was there anyone who actually failed these 'tests' or 'assessments'? I have this nagging feeling that despite the hullabaloo everyone pass.

A person with ability and vision since the beginning of his political career. A candidate from a small village to a Minister and now to the EU Court of Auditors. We thank you for the service you have given to our country. Prosit u Auguri.

I just cannot understand how in this day and age, we talk of compassion towards convicts and yet people who have been cleared of any wrondoing are still 'haunted' years later. How can someone cleared of any allegations can be labelled as being 'haunted' of any wrongdoing ? Congratulations to one of the longest serving politicians of our country ! The vote is the certificate of trust ......... if at all required ! I am also ashamed of some of our media who have repeatedly referred to these allegations these past few days (including this very news item) when a proper CV would have been more appropriate.

Europe's gain and our Parliament's loss. Public persons of the intellectual calibre and skills are sadly declining in our society which is giving way to who shouts and pouts the most. Dr. Galea was always diginified, a team player and a man who truly valued the persons he met. Well done and Godspeed.

Sincere congratulations Dr. Galea. You much deserve this appointment. You have always been a remarkable politician.

When the Auxiliary and Foundation particularly on the use of public funds for the Auxiliary Workers Training Scheme in 1987 and Dr. Louis Galea’s role in the Foundation for Tomorrow Schools in 2000 cropped up until The E. P. Budget Committee decided that such experience would be invaluable to the Office of the European Court of Auditors.

What an exceptional person, personality and politician.

Who ever was responsible to tarnish Dr. Louis Galea's character did not succeed.

As I said earlier although the rapporteur was from the Socialist group, I do not point my finger at Joe Muscat or his folks - after all there were many MLP officials who declared publicly that they follow their previous leaders, and that the past of their Party is a glorious one. Nobody having such pre-requisits would think of doing such harm to our present Speaker of the House.
