Industrial production up

The industrial production index went up by 1.4 per cent last January when compared to the previous month, according to the National Statistics Office.

The NSO said that in January the index stood at 100.6 points.

Production of energy and capital goods went up by 14.5 and by 6.1 per cent respectively. Similarly, production of consumer goods rose by one per cent due to a 2.4 per cent increase in the production of non-durable consumer goods but an 8.4 per cent drop in the production of consumer durable goods was recorded. The production of intermediate goods declined by 1.6 per cent.

From January 2009 to last January, industrial production rose by 14.6 per cent, from 87.9 points to 100.6 points. The main factor was a 41 per cent rise in the production of intermediate goods and increases of 7.8 and 14.8 per cent respectively in the production of energy and capital goods.
