The second phase of the Women's League commenced last weekend but the top teams were not in action.

Honey Athleta continued their good run with victory over St Andrews and in the other match, Starlites Sports Experience broke their duck after edging out Loyola Allcare Insurance.

Athleta's early superiority yielded a seven-point run and an 11-point lead, 16-5, at the end of the first quarter. With St Andrews failing to react, Athleta were 25-12 ahead at half-time.

Athleta retained the upperhand in the last two quarters for a 47-30 victory.

After coming close to upsetting Athleta, Starlites recorded their first victory at the expense of Loyola. Starlites took control after the opening minutes to lead 30-20 at half-time.

Loyola were a transformed team after the interval to level at 30-all. Starlites bounced back to start the last 10 minutes 42-34 ahead.

Loyola stemmed the tide and 15 consecutive points edged them 49-46 ahead. The lead changed hands several times in the last minutes until Marilou Cutajar's basket gave Starlites a 57-56 victory.
