No worries

If you are one of those people who need worry beads to keep you calm, just imagine the amount of patience needed to make a limestone model of the Opera House that once stood in Republic Street, Valletta once you enter the city.

"Before they used to build Plastic Models and Limestone Buildings.
Today we're getting Limestone Models and Plastic Buildings!"
A brilliant comment by Mr George Manduca.
Well said indeed!

This model is a Marvel of Crafsmanship ! Besides there are still Maltese Stone Masons who can produce the Real Thing. Stereotomy , the order , art and science of Stone Architecture . I STILL have not DISCOVERED a single Renzo Piano Project in this field !
No wonder he was spellbound with the Royal Opera House Remains !

kemm hawn nies ridikoli. Altru taghmel mudell tal-injam jew tal-gebla u altru tibni r-realta'. U Malta m'ghandhix bzonn teatru rjal iehor biex igawduh erba ta' ghonqom iebes. Il-haddiem mhu ser igawdi xejn mill-bini ta' teatru kif kien. Bhalma l-haddiem ma tant igawdi l-MCC, jew St James Cavalier li gie jiswa miljuni. Almenu kif ser jinbena t-teatru issa, il-haddiem se jkollu cans igawdi dak li jsir fih. Dal-gvern fiz-zghir jahseb u mhux ghal erba dilettanti tal-opra.

Ithought that the Maltese aren't capable, of such a project !!!! and most probably this person is not even an architect ? lmagine what an architect can do.

Awe-inspiring! I am overwhelmed with pride for what was, and saddened for what will be! Where and when will this artistic masterpiece be displayed?

Please, please show it to Enzo Piano and record his comments, but don't show these to me I'm able, on my own, to realise what we lost, never to retrieve again it has been decreed.

What a beautiful replica this is. And I bet you it comes with a roof on it. This is what the opera house should look like. I have one question for the PM and Mr Piano! Who and why did either of you come up with the idea of a NO ROOF Opera House? (caps intended). This is not a BBQ area on the beach or an outside disco. An opera house is a very high class affair and should be built right, or none at all. An opera house with no roof? Since Tenor Joseph Calleja is a well established opera singer, why not ask him what he thinks, officially. Let him be the judge.

What's there to discuss? How can there be any argument against this? Why argue against this?

Mr. PM and Renzo Piano please note the difference from the one which will be shoved down our throats.
Maltese craftsmanship.

Wonderful masterpiece... I can relate to the artist's motivations. Yet I have this nagging feeling that this is as far we're going to get as far as the Opera House is concerned!
Before they used to build Plastic Models and Limestone Buildings.
Today we're getting Limestone Models and Plastic Buildings!
Now let's hope we get more than just this limestone model.
We want the real opera house back!

@Magdi
I agree, talent is behind this work. Patience on its own won't do anything....

Very well done, whoever did it.
Having lived in as sculptor's environment - my late father was a sculptor - I can appreciate the 'amount of patience needed' to make such a model.

By the looks of even a miniature replica of the once Royal Opera House, I have an irresistible urge to say WOW. On the other hand, with the proposed outcome, my only urge is PPFFFF. Sorry it is only my humble opinion.
A big congrats to the responsible of building such a beautiful art in all senses.

Amazing work. Can we please know the sculptor behind this fantastic work? Having sculpted in stone before it takes more than patience to create all those tiny details. It only takes the wrong amount of strength for an important small piece to fly away. Well done!!
