The Foreign Ministry has denied claims by Labour MP Gavin Gulia that the government did not discuss the Libya visas issue with the opposition.

The claim was made by Dr Gulia on a Super One programme.

The programme presenter, former minister Reno Calleja, in a statement yesterday said Dr Gulia had criticised the government and said the issue should have been taken to the Foreign Affairs Committee.

The Foreign Ministry said Foreign Minister Tonio Borg had briefed the committee on how the issue had developed and solutions which might be considered. Labour MPs George Vella and Leo Brincat took part in the discussion.

It appeared, the ministry said, that Dr Gulia had not been updated by his colleagues.
