Accused of indecent assault, biting woman

A 31-year-old man from Sierra Leone was charged with the violent indecent assault of a 16-year-old girl and injuring the teenager by biting her when she was walking home alone at night.

Mohammed Awal, the holder of an immigrant certificate, pleaded not guilty to holding the teenager against her will and stealing her mobile phone in Qawra on January 27 at midnight.

The prosecution believe that Mr Awal was with another two men when the teenager was allegedly attacked, sources said.

After pleading not guilty, Mr Awal burst into tears while police escorted him back to prison once he was remanded in custody.
