While the beatification process of the servant of God, Mother Margherita de Brincat, foundress of the Franciscan sisters of the Heart of Jesus, is waiting for a miracle, the Diocese of Gozo, through the initiative of Bishop Mario Grech, and with the approval of the Superior General of the Congregation of the mentioned sisters, is organising various celebrations to make Mother Margherita, and its cause, known by the faithful.

I have been authorised to hold various celebrations in different churches of the diocese so that this aim may be reached.

After the celebration of the 58th anniversary of the foundress' death on January 22, with a solemn Mass at the Mother house's church in Victoria, I celebrated another Mass in the parish church of Kerċem, commemorating the day of February 5, 1881, when she left her home in this village and, accompanied by her father M'Angelo, proceeded to Għajn Qatet Street in Victoria, where she was welcomed by Dun Ġuzepp Diacono and began her religious life.

On February 22, another Mass at St Francis church of Victoria (see photo) commemorated the holy clothing of Mother Margherita who, as Mistress Virginia of the Blessed Margaret, began her novitiate in the newly created congregation in 1880.

The next celebration, to be held at Qala parish church on Wednesday at 6 p.m., will commemorate the opening of the first house of Mother Margherita's congregation at Qala.
