Tenor Joseph Calleja will perform in Malta this summer with Claudio Baglioni and music legend Dionne Warwick.

The live concert, to be held on July 24 on the Granaries in Floriana, will fuse elements of pop music with the classical.

The three internationally acclaimed artistes are being brought over to Malta by NnG Promotions.

Calleja added that he was particularly looking forward to his annual appointment in his home country.

"My professional commitments take me all over the world and I end up spending a lot of time away from Malta. I miss my country and I am always eager for that special date on my calendar, to spend an evening performing in my own country. Wherever I am, I always keep Malta and Gozo close to my heart," Calleja said.

Claudio Baglioni, a musician, composer, author and writer, is best known for "Questo Piccolo Grande Amore" .

Calleja was recently invited to contribute to Baglioni's latest album "QPGA" - a double CD, 52 tracks, 150 minutes of extraordinary music featuring 70 Italian and international musicians. The track may be defined as a popular modern opera with its rock, pop, classical and jazz arrangments and acoustics.

Dionne Warwick is equally renowned, with an illustrious career that spans four decades that has seen her establishing herself as an international hit maker thanks to nearly 60 hits since her first hit Don't Make Me Over began its climb up the charts back in December 1962.

This year's concert will feature a 500-strong children's choir, double that of last year's successful concert at the Luxol Grounds.

"The audience loved the participation of the children's choir during Joseph Calleja's concert last year. Since then we have kept this choir active and it will participate in a concert that is being organised to mark the Pope's visit to Malta," said Anton Attard, director of NnG Promotions.

The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by celebrated Maestro Paul Bateman, will also take part in the concert.

Looking forforward to the Calleja concert, Mr Calleja said this would be a massive event and he thanked Floriana council for its cooperation.

He explained that the concert had been moved to the Granaries because of its unique historical setting, adding value to the overall experience that guests can derive out of the evening.

A contingency plan is in place to move the concert by a day to July 25 if the weather is not good, so as to ensure that the artistes' and the Orchestra's performance are of the highest possible acoustic and technical levels.

Joseph Calleja will offer hundreds of free tickets to children's homes as a personal contribution towards children under care.

Pre-sale tickets will be available to all those who are registered on www.nngpromotions.com at a €10 discount as of Tuesday March 16 from 9 a.m. . Regular tickets will go on sale on March 22 from all Agenda, Vodafone and Exotique outlets and from www.nngpromotions.com.
