Five members from the Taekwondo Dragon Club returned home with four medals following their partici-pantion in the 14th British Masters Open at the K2 Arena, in Crawley.
First in action was Duncan Munro in the Poomsae Pewee 'B' category. He placed second thanks to an average mark of 6.55, just a 0.05 difference from the winner.
Chloe Vassallo, the youngest of the Dragon Club team, then took gold in her very first overseas experience after seeing off two direct rivals in the Pewees 'B' -25kgs category.
Kyle Vassallo, who competed in the Junior 'C' -68kgs, had to settle for second place after losing his third and last bout 11-8. In the Senior 'B' -74kgs, Mauro Busuttil finished third after losing his only bout 13-11.
Lynsey Fenech figured in the Cadets 'A' -35kgs but did not manage a place on the podium.
The team was led by head instructor Stephen Formosa. Christopher Vella, who clinched gold in the Masters category after winning two bouts, coached Munro during the British Masters Open.
Meanwhile, nine Dragon Club members passed their promotion test earlier this year. These are: (9th Kup, yellow tab) Diane Fenech and Kyle Vassallo; (8th Kup, yellow belt) Nadine and Luke Ebejer, Kristina and Nicola Borg Cardona; (7th Kup, green tab) Jadyn Portelli; (6th Kup, green belt) Mauro Busuttil; (4th Kup, blue belt) Chloe Vassallo.
