Transport Malta apologises for road works jams
Transport Malta has apologised for the inconvenience caused to motorists who were stuck in traffic jams in Marsa this morning because of road works by a private contractor.
The contractor commenced scarifying works along December 13 Road at about 3am and he was meant to reopen the lanes to traffic between 7.15am and 9am. However the opening was delayed, causing delays for drivers in Marsa and beyond.
By 9am the traffic situation was back to normal after the contractor was ordered to reopen the lanes. The contractor was allowed to resume works at 10am.
The works are expected to be completed before 4 pm today and will not be carried out tomorrow as perviously advertised.
Transport Malta also apologised for delays caused in the Kirkop area.
"Transport Malta officials monitoring the area reported that unforeseen circumstances and a misunderstanding between a batching plant operator and a road contractor led to some traffic chaos. The situation returned to normal shortly after the intervention of the same transport officials," Transport Malta said.
Transport Malta also thanked the police for their work.

L ewwel nett dak ma kienx hin li taqla triq meta taf il volum ta vetturi li ikunu ghaddejjin f dak il hin tal gurnata.
Irrid niehu din l opportunita li ahjar it transport authority taghmel l obbligu taghha u taghti kumpens immedjat lill dawk il xufiera vittmi ta traskuragni ,ghax hawn toroq perikoluzi, ikunu vittma ta hsara li tammonta ta mijiet ta euros ,minhabba li issibu xi hofra fi toroq.
Hija misthija,li jghaddu xhur u ma tiehu l ebda risposta u l ebda kumpens,u trid tkun int li tiftah kawza fil qorti biex tiehu dak li haqqek.
Qadin inhallsu road tax gholja ,u ghalhekk huwa dritt ta l awtorita li ikollna toroq safe, u mhux wara l ewwel xita tara hofor perikoluzi kwazi f kull triq.
Ghamlu id dover taghkom, u ha;llsu immedjatament lill dawn il vittmi,li gratilhom hsara fil vettira taghhom, minhabba it traskuragni taghkom.

Works should have started at 8 in the evening. An incompetent authority to say the least.

Malta Transport is there, as maltese say "biex isahnu is-siggu" and belive me, over there, in December 13th, it is always like that. They should do something not leaving police to guide traffic. Come on get up from that chair and start do something for good.

Such serious mismanagement proves it:
Transport Malta = Simply Inefficient!
Who, in the Cabinet, is responsible for Transport Malta anyway? The silence is deafening!

TMs inefficiency and incompetence reflects that of the person responsible for it. As the saying goes, il-huta minn rasha tinten.

doesnt it make much more sense to have works of the sort, especialy on these arterial roads, carried out on weekends?!

Inconvenience caused:-
1. idling vehicle engines inching their way downhill from Luqa bypass to Marsa = wastage of fuel + pollution. 2. lost man hours arriving to workplace. 3. increased collission chances.
It has turned out to be a very costly appology for a clumsily planned road job.
Will we ever learn from past mistakes or do we have to pride ourselves with the patent for engaging in a continuous comedy of errors??

"a misunderstanding between a batching plant operator and a road contractor led to SOME traffic chaos"
I can assure TM that it was much much more than 'some traffic chaos". This morning it took me 45 minutes to go from Zejtun to Tarxien which normally takes me not more than 5 to 7 minutes. Unbelievable. Kieku naghmlu xi haga sew!

Transport Malta either closes that lane completely and turn traffic towards other secondary road such as ix-Xatt tal-Marsa, or else it should have started this work on Saturday morning working night and day, weather permitting. But as usual, some people never learn how to handle traffic situations. Wardens and traffic police are only there to act as jelly babies, ignoring the traffic. The more they do these schenanighans the less I have trust in such monsters working at such BIG BIG Corporations.

this case apart drivers going through Marsa in the afternoon rush hour are now encountering same problems as during the morning rush. A policeman is standing blocking lanes close to the Marsa Shipbuilding thus slowing the flow of traffic towards Paola etc. Furthermore, in the morning those responsible should stand at the bottom of Palm Street in Paola to make sure that those drivers ignoring the no entry sign into Santa Lucia Avenue are fined. This is a major hazard for motorists coming down the hill.

Knowing the chaotic situation that exits on our roads, one need more than a glass of water to swallow this apologie.
Just go out between 07.30 - 09.00 and you'll see as much as you like chaotic situations
