Lifecycle Challenge heading for Old Trafford

This year's Lifecycle Betfair Lifecycle Challenge is to see cyclists pedal their way from Venice to Old Trafford in Manchester, a distance of 2,000km, to raise funds for renal patients.

The route was announced yesterday, which was World Kidney Day.

This will be the 12th edition of the marathon. The organisation this year hopes to raise funds to help outpatients at the renal unit by providing transport to and from the hospital as well as giving money to the Kidney Organisation.

One of the stages of this year's challenge will be named after Cliff Micallef, who was hit by a car and killed as he prepared for last year's Challenge.
