GO upgrading TV facilities
GO plc said today that it is investing further in its core TV infrastructure in view of the added requirements resulting from the transmission of the English Premier League and Italian Serie A as from the next football season. This investment will allow GO to broadcast simultaneously six live events, including football matches from the English and Italian leagues.
The upgrade works will take place in GO's TV operations facilities at the Maghtab headend, and will include a new playout system which will mean that the company can receive and record up to 10 simultaneous live feeds, while being able to transmit to the customers' homes six of the 10 live feeds.
GO said that it is also upgrading its playout operations centre at the Maghtab headend in order to ensure that the company's TV team will be able to monitor and direct all transmissions effectively. An audio studio is being set up within the TV operations centre to cater for live commentary during football matches and other sports events.

From next season if my favourite team plays the champions league and in serie A, to watch both games i will have to subscribe to Melita Sports + basic package and GO Sports+ Home pack with a total cost of 90 euros per month ... in this sector there is no competition therefore with these shifts us customers will be the first to suffer!!

I shall say thank you to Go TV for taking the Serie A and English Premier League and as a football follower have to pay Eur 22.99 monthly the same as for Melita Sports, for the sports package without having the Uefa Champions League, Europa League, Liga and Bundesliga matches!!! where is the competition??? and what to say for the Eur 17.99 monthly offer (july 10 till july 11) were i will have sports from march to july 2011 from which the worth of football matches shown with regards to Serie A and PL will be of 8 months thus paying Eur 72 worth of no football matches... WE AS CUSTOMERS HAD GAINED NOTHING FROM THIS SHIFT FROM MELITA SPORTS TO GO SPORTS ...

Totally agree with Robert ... the internet in the South of the Island is miserable ... A friend of mine is paying for an 8mb/s speed ... and getting 2mb/s. When contacted ... GO told us they new where the problem lied and were going to fix it ... this was a year ago !
Also .. why isn't Favourite Channel .. a Maltese station not transmitted on GO ???

As a GO tv subscriber, all this investment is of no use to me, since the service is still the same. with or without any further investment. The only use for me will be when GO adds some other channels, even from sicily to the basic free service. Thus there will be many like me who will benefit from all these MILLIONS in additional infrastructure. So.... thanks for nothing.
