The Salesians of Don Bosco have produced limited edition engravings of St Paul's Grotto ahead of the Pope's visit in April.

The 100 engravings will sell for €100 each, in aid of St Patrick's School in Sliema.

They depict St Paul's Grotto in Rabat, thought of as a place where St Paul had slept as a prisoner in his days in Malta 1,950 years ago; the grotto is also the place Pope Benedict XVI has chosen for pilgrimage in his first visit to Malta on April 17.

The engraving was prepared by Gozitan artist Justin Falzon, an art graduate of the Lorenzo de Medici Art Institute, the place where he executed this engraving. It is in black and white, measuring 50 cm x 70 cm while the inner plate is 32 x 24cm. There are only a few existing old engravings of the grotto of St Paul.

St Patrick's School in Sliema is run by the Salesians and caters for children coming from a difficult background.
