Power station emissions just below EU ceiling

Emissions of C02 from the two power stations were below the maximum level allowed by the EU in 2008, Finance Minister Tonio Fenech said in Parliament.

Emissions from Marsa Power Station reached 1,043,935mt while emissions from Delimara were 974,650mt .

The total of 2,018,585mt was below the quota allocated to Malta by the European Commission, which was of 2,107,837mt.

Malta, therefore, did not make use of the emissions trading mechanism to raise the allowance, Mr Fenech told Labour MP Leo Brincat.
