Still no mention of PM's 'positive results' (2)
In spite of the global financial crisis, businesses in Malta performed much better than the average of our European counterparts last year. According to statistics published by Eurostat on March 3, Malta fared very well, placing third. Malta saw a 2.6 per cent increase in retail trading while EU member states experienced an average 1.6 per cent reduction.
Even in the eurozone, Malta did very well, coming in second. The average rate for countries in the eurozone was a reduction of 1.3 per cent. This is very encouraging news for business confidence and an unequivocal confirmation that the Nationalist government is adopting the appropriate solutions to weather the international financial turbulence.

Mr.Sammut, I can detect that you are neither a businessman nor employ people. Reality is very very different than the one you are reading about . Unfotunately

Grumpy old men was a movie that made people laugh. But to realize that Joseph, who is still in his thirties is so grumpy makes many sad. Joseph, stop talking about doom and gloom, stop your earthquakes, stop dreaming of becoming Prime Minister and start being positive. Admit that the government is leading us wisely out of the recession. Admit that investment is coming our way. Admit that Dr. Gonzi's vision is becoming a reality. Admit, if you have the spine, that Labour does not have the ability to match the PN's know how. I pity them, but then they also love Malta. Even though they were against joining the EU, against the Euro adoption, against the privatization of the dockyard, against the stopping of subsudies. Yes, they do love our country, so much so that they have done a U turn about everything mentioned above. Joseph, like you have apologized for what happened to the kids that were sent to Australia and you had nothing to do with that episode, it would be nice if you were to apologize to the nation for your personal wrong advice to the nation for all the U turns you had to make.

Simply painting a desired picture and trying to promote the feel-good factor will not make reality go away except for those who have their heads buried in the sand. However, when they take their head out of the sand they will get the biggest shock of their lives.

The reason Malta did better than most European Countries is very simple, consumer prices made a dramatic increase while in the EU consumer prices went down. No help what so ever from the government not even for a car scrappage scheme.
