Care and saving lives (2)

I have been lobbying to have traffic lights installed near the Diplomat Hotel in Sliema for at least five years now. My concerns have fallen on deaf ears, even though many accidents have occurred on this spot. Three have resulted in fatalities.

A few days ago an Italian tourist was hit at the same spot. Thank God she was taken to hospital alive.

What is it going to take to install traffic lights? A couple of more fatalities, a few more accidents? I just don't understand the mentality of the ADT or whichever government body traffic lights fall under.

Is it the cost? But if this is the reason, how much is a human life worth? Even so, the cost of the police, the ambulance, the care of the patient, the court inquiry... don't these all add up?

Near misses are an everyday occurrence.

Can anyone out there help, before someone is killed at this spot again?
