Commission says no decisions on Mag. Herrera taken

Updated: The Commission for the Administration of Justice in a short statement this evening said it has taken no decisions to date in any proceedings before it involving Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera.

The Commission was referring to reports carried on the media.

The Magistrate on Monday gave evidence in court in defamation proceedings launched by the police at her request against columnist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Magistrate Herrera's lawyer, Stephen Tonna Lowell, in a statement this evening said that the Magistrate in her testimony on Monday never said or implied that any proceedings before the commission had been decided.

The Magistrate had said that the only report that was before the Commission for the Administration of Justice was that submitted by an individual where it was alleged that the Magistrate owned some property together with a lawyer. The Magistrate said that she had exhibited all her assets to the commission as well as the assets and liabilities from the Public Registry and it resulted from them (the documents) that the report made against her was false.

Dr Tonna Lowell said it was clear that the reference during the testimony had been to the documents exhibited by the Magistrate.
