An employee of Oil giant Total walks past an effigy representing Total workers lying under a guillotene at the company's refinery in Fort Mardyck yesterday. Oil giant Total announced the closure of its refinery in northern France but vowed to protect jobs by reassigning workers at the strike-hit plant. Total promised not to lay-off the 370 workers at the refinery, for whom it plans restructuring measures, including a new fuel depot and training centre, as it winds down its refining operations by 2013.
