Bus driver 'beaten up'
A bus driver, 28, was "attacked" yesterday after telling another driver, "You don't own the road", according to witnesses.
The fight broke out at about 10.30 a.m. next to the Al Fateh Libyan school in Ta' Giorni, St Julian's - in full view of around 10 passengers, including children.
According to witness Stefan Kamberovic, an argument ensued when the bus driver complained because a Fiat Panda was being driven in the middle of the road.
After exchanging words, two men emerged from the car and threw punches through the bus driver's window before mounting the bus to continue the assault.
The two men also smashed some glass windows, while the "terrified" passengers scrambled to the back of the bus and opened the fire exit to escape.
Mr Kamberovic said the main aggressor, who appeared to be drunk, was bare-chested and tattooed, dressed only in tracksuit trousers.
"We all huddled up in the back but they were pushing the bus driver onto us," Mr Kamberovic said, adding that the men were also hurling obscenities.
Police were called to the scene where they took the particulars of the three men involved in the fight.
Police later said no one was seriously injured but the three men were told to report to a health centre for a check-up.
The aggressors were a 48- and a 31-year-old, both from St Julian's, while the young bus driver was from Zejtun.
Investigations are ongoing, but police sources said no one had yet been arrested.
Public Transport Association president Victor Spiteri said it was unacceptable for "any worker" to be attacked in such a way while carrying out his job.
However, he said that an inquiry was underway and he could only give more comments once he received a full report about the incident.

Ah well its just a thought. However i remember in the old days when sitting for various exams and what not, even if one cannot spell correctly, as long as they make themselves understood, even make a diagram would be acceptable,. nobody is perfeect me'ol sonner. just as a matter of interest thats all., good luck.

Interesting Mr.Cassar as yes you'm quite right my Maltese friend, one can actually tell between the Maltese or Gozitans whatever, that have spent time overseas, by the mannerism and the way they behave on the roads which is up to out standard in most cases, but the yobos or bullies that nerver as yet ventureed out their own door step, boy they need to go back to basics as some are as ignoramous as they come. i seem them driving like the clappers with an attitude of sod you Joe get out out my way, what a load of dipsticks as we say back home - need to be locked up in a junk yard till they learn to respect other road users

@J J Borg: I hope those children don't start using sentences with the word AND, after reading your comment they just might. Before you start knocking people down for typing errors as you did earlier this week, you should perfect your English. Didn't they teach you not to use conjunctions at the beginning of a sentence.
@J Martinelli: Keep me out of this I didn't have anything to say on this article.

Drivers of trucks delivering gas cylinders are also aggressive in the same manner. I witnessed one running out of his truck and threatening a car driver when the car driver complained that the truck driver was blocking the road causing a huge jam.
Basically, these drivers are totally uneducated in all aspects of soceity and should NEVER be allowed to take up positions which in effect are customer facing.

We need a hard stance against road bullies. a 5 year jail term should be enough deterrant to the two aggressors to learn they can't get out of the car and beat up anyone they feel like. Will also serve as a lesson to others. They did not just hurt the bus driver, but also terrified the tourists, a source of revenue to Malta.

Hardly surprising given that such incidents are rarely taken seriously by the authorities. And now a group of children have been directly exposed to seriously violent behavior, which may well encourage them to behave like that toward each other.

Are you kidding me. What is going on in Malta. Man threaten and attack a bus driver an dthey are not arrested. And you have all these witnesses. Is this a joke. No wonder laws in Malta and Gozo are broken all the time. And instead of blaming this on the police I like to go further and blame the government for this. I heard one too many stories of people breaking the law, getting tickets, etc, go to their miniter and all is forgiven. No wonder police don't arrest anyone.

"....the three men were told to report to a health centre for a check up"
"...police sources said that no one had yet been arrested"
Whey were the aggressors not 'Taken' by the police to a health centre for a check up so that if found drunk this charge is added to that of aggression, swearing in public and putting the safety of passangers at risk

These three persons should be punished . Normal drivers are not safe with such drivers on the road.
We heard last week about such a drivers being jailed for stabbing another driver, we are getting to a point where we cannot speak to another driver , no matter how right we are, for fear of being attacked.

"Investigations are ongoing, but police sources said no one had yet been arrested." Imbaghad niskantaw kif f'dal-pajjiz kulhadd jaghmel li jrid. Il-fatt li x-xufier tal-karozza kien xurban diga raguni izjed minn valida biex jigi arrestat, imma Malta le, kollox differenti rridu naghmlu. Pajjiz spiccut dak li hu.
