The last telephone directory in book form was published in 2004. Certainly, six years is too long a time. Not all subscribers, especially the elderly, can avail themselves of Go's website, and even so this is not being updated.
For example, my home telephone number, which was given to me more than 25 years ago, does not appear in the online directory, nor does that for my Gozo apartment, which I was given four years ago.
I do not think it is fair that subscribers have to call 1182 to enquire about a telephone number and be charged for the call. This surely is a matter for consumer protection. Let us not forget that Go has a social obligation. It should at least team up with the other fixed telephony provider, Melita, to publish an updated directory.
I would appreciate readers' comments on this.
