Some 1,300 delegates from 50 countries are attending the seventh World Meeting on Pharmaceutics, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology being held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta, between tomorrow and Thursday.
This prestigious event aims to bridge the gap between fundamental academic research and industrial applications, offers an opportunity for fruitful cooperation to be initiated between universities and industry.
Topics to be discussed during the conference include solid oral dosage form development and manufacturing, modified oral release, modern devices and paediatric dosage form development.
University faculty staff and students are taking part in the conference and presenting results from research projects during both the poster and oral communication sessions. One of the projects to be presented at the conference is a joint research project between the University's Department of Pharmacy and Starpharma, a local pharmaceutical industry specialised in the development and manufacture of modified release solid oral preparations. This research project is funded through the National Programme for Research and Innovation.
The conference is being organised by the International Association for Pharmaceutical Technology, the Association de Pharmacie Galénique Industrielle and the Associazione Docenti e Ricercatori Italiani di Tecnologie e Legislazione Farmaceutiche in collaboration with the university and the Malta Pharmaceutical Association.
