Middlesea, Laferla Health sign agreement with St James Hospital

Middlesea Insurance plc, Laferla Insurance Agency and St James Hospital have signed an agreement which should enable insured patients to be accepted and discharged smoothly.

Under the agreement, patients insured with a Middlesea Insurance plc's health policy or a Laferla healthplan will not need to pay hospital fees on discharge as these will be payable directly by the insurer.

The agreement was signed by St James Hospital's Maria Bugeja, Middlesea plc chief officer Simon Anastasi, and Laferla Insurance Agency managing director Mark Laferla.

Medical procedures and services carried out at both St James Hospitals in Sliema and Żabbar are encompassed in the agreement, which facilities the direct settlement of eligible insured medical services.

The document is evidence of the three parties' commitment to putting patient first, the companies said.
