Australia's Jones going for fourth Olympics in London

Leisel Jones has confirmed her participation in the 2012 Olympics.

Australia's multiple Olympic medallist Leisel Jones has decided to swim at a fourth Olympics in London in 2012.

The 24-year-old, one of the greatest female breaststrokers of all time, flirted with retirement after the 2008 Beijing Olympics but returned rejuvenated last year after a sabbatical.

"I have made the decision to go ahead and not (have) one foot in and one foot out the door," Jones told Australian Associated Press (AAP).

"Why not do it?" she added. "I can prove my longevity in the sport. I can be the first (Australian) swimmer to do four Olympics and that would be a great achievement.

"I am still mentally prepared for everything and focused and still enjoying my swimming."

Jones has won eight medals in three Olympics, including three golds, as well as seven world championship golds.

Skipping last year's world championships in Rome has not dented Jones's confidence in her ability to beat all comers in her favourite events.

"I consider myself to be the fastest and I would love the opportunity to race against the guys coming up this year...," she said.
