Fourteen independent private schools are to form an association to better voice their ideas, ideals, aspirations and concerns.

The association will be formally set up on Tuesday in the presence of Education Minister Dolores Cristina.

"The ISA (Independent Schools Association) represents a sector which has always been at the forefront of education locally and which, according to last year's figures, provides an education to 10.8 per cent of all children of schooling age in Malta. Drawing on years of experience in providing a holistic education to thousands of successful Maltese school children, the association intends to be a key player within the local educational sector," the promoters said.

The founder members of the association are Al Batool School, San Andrea School, San Anton School, St. Catherine's High School, Chiswick House School, St. Edward's College, Garendon, Little Angels School, St. Martin's College, St. Michael Foundation, St. Michael School, Noddy's, Newark and Thi Lakin. Other schools are in the process of joining.
