Mellieħa runners in the forefront at Malta Marathon

The 25th Land Rover Malta Marathon, which was held last Sunday, was another successful edition for Mellieħa Athletic Club runners.

In fact, the first three Maltese runners home in the full marathon all hailed from the club up north.

Richard Chetcuti, Johann Galea and Rodney Cassar completed the 42km distance in that order with timings of 2:39:55, 2:42:33 and 2:45:49 respectively.

Success was also achieved in the half marathon where Charles Cila, also of Mellieħa AC, finished first in 1:11:40.

Apart from these four long-distance runners, a good number of others representing Mellieħa AC clocked personal best times on Sunday, a club statement said.

"Once again, team spirit, professional coaching and hard work were behind this richly-deserved success," Mellieħa AC said.
