In the early minutes of this anticipated Cisk League match, Kavallieri winger Dean Muscat got on the scoresheet first with a successful conversion from a penalty.

In a thrilling opening, Stompers replied with a dashing run by Attard leaving the Kavallieri back line standing still, allowing him to score his first points of the game - a try that was followed by a conversion.

Quick to respond, Kavallieri won a penalty with Muscat converting again to add another three points to the scoreboard.

Then it was Cutajar's turn to gain a try for Kavallieri as a line-out was mauled over the line. Third time 'unlucky' for Muscat as he failed to convert.

Before half-time, however, Stompers took the lead with a try by Fountain following a speedy penalty by Galea (HT: 12-11).

Pumped up by their first-half showing, Kavallieri's solid passing led to another try by Cutajar.

Stompers responded with a try by Camilleri following a five-metre line-out. Tonna then got his name on the scoresheet as superb supporting tactics by Stompers allowed for a fast-flowing run of play. On this occasion, both tries were converted by Attard.

Kavallieri's Mallia was sin-binned following intentional contact with the head of a Stompers full-back but parity was quickly restored as Galea (Stompers) received the same treatment after an attempted trip.

More points followed as Kavallieri's Doublesin took a quick penalty and ran in a try; successfully converted by Dean.

In the dying minutes, Kavallieri snatched victory as a number of successive mauls allowed Bonavia to power over the line. Successfully converting this final try, Muscat closed the match as he started.
