Works at The Point near completion
An artist's impression of The Point.
Works on The Point, a new large shopping centre in Tigné Point in Sliema, have reached a very advanced stage and the coming weeks will see the works on all the flagship stores and common areas draw to a close, the developers said today.
The Point, spread across a footprint of 14,000 m² with feature 45 retail outlets over three levels, including some of the most renowned fashion and family brands on the market.
"The Point is the next step in the evolution of retail in Malta and this is due to the number of advantages that this destination offers," said Edwin Borg, General Manager of The Point.
"Many of the brands located at The Point do not merely have a presence but are proper flagship stores, representing a host of international labels under one roof. At the far end of the mall are the anchor outlets which reflect the continental model upon which The Point has been designed and mapped out. The wide walkways and common areas as well as a spacious atrium will all contribute towards a greater shopping experience. The inclusion of a major supermarket as one of these anchor outlets makes visiting The Point a complete one-stop shop experience," added Mr Borg.
He explained that for added convenience, all traffic into the development has been routed underground where it can use Sliema's largest car parking facility with benefits all visitors using shopping, dining and entertainment facilities both within the Mall and around the adjacent Pjazza Tigné.
All the mechanical and electrical installations at The Point were completed last year, and tenants are now finishing and fitting out their stores.

Sliema and Gzira have been bearing pollution for many years and it's not going to be The Point to make it worse. Just try walking Bisazza Street or along the Strand. Surely it's not caused by Tigne Point! Tigne Point is an obvious extension of Sliema that was bound to happen. At least, instead of more bugibba style planning, Tigne Point will offer a huge car free area, a destination which is truly at par with similar destinations internationally and a total upgrade of Tigne in general, something which everyone knows it was badly needed. Pollution is not only an issue that needs to be addressed only in Sliema and Gzira but across the whole country.

Well, users of 'the point' have the added benefit of roaming an area without traffic and fumes but all the residents of Sliema, Gzira and beyond have to bear the brunt of all the excess pollution this new mall and more will bring through our roads. Thanks alot MIDI. While shareholders stash their money, our children are inhaling benzene and NOx.

Looks quite appealing in this Artist Impression . By any chance is the long promised Sliema Wanderers Football Grounds and Sport Complex on the Roof of this Shopping Centre ? Its about time the Wanderers' club gets back its training facilities after years of Wandering !
