On the occasion of Victim Support Day last Monday, Victim Support Malta (VSM) has launched a website intended to serve as an important reference point for people needing information about support for victims.

VSM deals with all types of victims of crime, whether male or female, from domestic violence and sexual harassment to bereavement.

The website - www.victimsup portmalta.org - is a guide to assisting victims and helping witnesses of crime rebuild their lives.

It is also linked to a hotline manned 24 hours a day by volunteers.

The site also carries past case studies to inform browsers how the organisation handles reports and cases and the different solutions offered to victims.

The launch of the new website is the beginning of an ongoing campaign to raise awareness for VSM and the services it offers, which will soon include legal aid and the services of a psychologist.

VSM's website also outlines the organisations's long-term development plans, including the introduction of victim-offender mediation services and court witness services, and offering training opportunities in victim-related issues to judges, magistrates, lawyers and the police.

VSM's Roberta Lepre said: "VSM has launched the new website as a step towards reaching the public.

"No matter whether it has been today, a week ago or a year ago, you can always contact us if you think we can give you support, information or both."

VSM accepts all forms of support, donations and volunteer work.
