Significant increase in digital radio listenership

Digi B Network, the digital radio operator broadcasting in DAB+, has registered a marked increase in listenership, according to Digi B Network managing director Sergio D'Amico.

The Malta Broadcasting Authority's Radio and Television Audience Assessment recently found digital radio increased to 10.10 per cent listenership by the end of 2009. Respondents were asked to indicate what type of reception platform they had at home.

Digi B Networks will be rolling out new channels this year and beyond.

Mr D'Amico added that the availability of the first car stereo with in-built digital radio has generated marked interest. Digi B Network was heavily involved in the design of Blue State, the first DAB+ car stereo. Digital radio in Malta continues to be at the cutting edge of this service with interest in the product from other European countries and from as far away as Australia.
