Borg Costanzi stays at the helm

The Malta Canoe Federation (MCF) held its annual general meeting last Sunday at the federation's boathouse at the Marsamxett Ferries, Valletta.

During the meeting, Peter Borg Costanzi and Ian Busuttil, the president and secretary of the MCF respectively, gave a review of 2009/2010, a highly productive term for the federation. This was followed by a brief discussion on the main topics mentioned in the reports.

The members showed their appreciation for the excellent contribution of Borg Costanzi by re-electing him as president. Albert Gambina, the newcomer from the Malta Sea Kayak club, has taken up the position of secretary while Damian Schembri has been elected as treasurer, a post he already occupied in the past.

The new committee also approved the appointment of Nicola Borg Costanzi as technical director. Matthew Schembri is another newcomer from the juniors' racing section and one of the most promising canoeists. Daniel Cauchi, from the emerging Canoe Polo club, has also been elected to the new MCF committee.

In a statement, the MCF thanked Clark Weissinger, Robert Pullicino, Gerald DeGaetano and Busuttil for their sterling service in the past term. The MCF also expressed its gratitude to Bertie Muscat for his presence during the AGM as a representative of the Kunsill Malti għall-iSport.

MCF committee: Peter Borg Costanzi (president); Albert Gambina (secretary); Damian Schembri (treasurer); Nicola Borg Costanzi (technical director); Matthew Schembri, Dorian Vassallo, Daniel Cauchi.

The first event on the new committee's agenda is the Manoel Island race, scheduled for April 18.
