Handguns found in Pembroke evictions

Firearms and other items were found by Lands Department workers this morning while carrying out evictions from former services buildings in Pembroke.

Sources said the firearms were found in a tenement used by a man currently being held in prison. He had no legal title over the property.

The prisoner was taken to the site, as were members of his family, to identity the other items.

The weapons included five old handguns and a modern air rifle with telescope sights.

Animals, boats and white goods were also found on the property.
