‘We’re not thieves, we’re employees’
Two workers at the San Gwann Bank of Valletta branch were mistaken for thieves yesterday when they got locked in the building and had to sound the alarm for assistance.
The police rushed to the scene shortly after the alarm went off at around 3.45 p.m.
The men who were found inside told the police they were workers and had got locked inside. The suspicious officers refused to let them out until the veracity of their claim was confirmed by bank officials.

To all those people who are always saying "only in Malta".....you should browse some international sites too, and see what funny stories happen around the globe!!! Anyway I don't know why they haven't used their mobile phones.

Only in malta, the police did the right thing in having confirmation that these guys were actually bank employees.

Life is a series of blunders.
Strip life of all its false starts, of all its missed opportunities. naive presumptions, fulfilling first attempts and learned - it -the hard way experience, and what's left worth phoning home about ?
That's the crazy thing about blunders.........without them there's nothing.

Funny! But it's not April yet and it's too late for carnival.
Think people will dress up more like bankers next year?
News items are surely inspirational, don't you agree?

Did they have to sound the alarm??? Didnt they have access to a telephone or a mobile, or an email to send to anyone who could open !!!!!

Question - How could the Police have let them out without a bank official to open the door anyway? I can just see it though:
Police: "Come out with your hands in the air".
Workers: "Help - come in and get us out".
Police: "Urr, ummmm - ' @?1""@ ' " - baffled.
This is funny - you have just got to laugh. Presumably the telephones in the Bank were still working and the bank robbers oops - workers could of just of telephoned for help rather than hit the alarm.

What lesson do we learn from this unfortunate episode? No one at the bank seems to check if anyone is hidden in the bank precints before it closes for business. Prosit x'serjeta!!
