BOFFA. On February 23, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARY, of Blata l-Bajda, aged 75, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Charles, her children Michael and his wife Edith, Patrick and his wife Sandra, and Mariella, her grandchildren Charisse, Kyle, Michela, Shaun, Jeanelle, Jade, Mireille and Luke, her sisters and brothers, Nelly, Rose, Albert, George and Doris, their respective spouses, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. ENGERER. On February 22, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH, aged 66, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Lilian, his children Vanessa and her husband David Farrugia, Edward and his wife Ramona, Kurt and his wife Sarah, Marija Kristina and her partner Wayne, his grandchildren Kyle, Marc, Carla, Jake, Nik, Sam and Kaya, his sisters and brothers, Marlene, Dorothy, Austin, Tania, Brian, Christopher and Caroline and their respective spouses, his in-laws, nephews, nieces and numerous friends. FALZON. On February 21, at Mater Dei Hospital, GIOVANNA, widow of Neriku, aged 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Eddie and his wife Lorraine, Andrew and his wife Liliana, residing in the USA, Pauline and her husband Godwin Camilleri and Maria, her grandchildren Neil, Wayne and his fiancée Christiana, Kyle, Francesca, Robert, Luca, Erica and Enrico, her brothers and sisters, in-laws, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. MIFSUD. On February 4, at a nursing home in Surrey, DONALD, aged 84, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his sister Rosemary Clarke, his niece Pat and her husband Mario Grech, his great-nephew David, his great-niece Alexea and her husband Alastair, his very caring friend Edwin Micallef and his wife Harriet of UK, other relatives and friends. Cremation takes place today at the Surrey and West Sussex Crematorium. This evening's 6.30 Mass at Tal-Ibraġ parish church will be offered for the repose of his soul. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

VASSALLO. On February 21, JOHN, aged 74, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his daughters Michèle, Chantal and her husband Stephen Ganado and Mireille, his sisters, family and numerous friends. VELLA-BRIFFA. On February 22, at St James Capua Hospital, Sliema, Dr JOSEPH EDWARD VELLA-BRIFFA, former resident of St Julians and Mellieħa, passed away peacefully after a long illness, at the age of 74, surrounded by his family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Mary, née Ciantar, his two daughters and their husbands, Rosa and her husband Francis Hunt, and Anna Maria and her husband Jamie Clarke, his grandsons Joshua, Christopher, Timothy, Daniel Hunt and Zac Clarke and his granddaughter Isabella Rosa Clarke. He also leaves to mourn his loss his brothers and their spouses, Alfred and Doris, Frank and Eileen, Victor and Pauline and Dr Dino and Nadette, his brother-in-law Joe Mamo, widower of his sister Margaret, his nephews and nieces, his in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St James Capua Hospital tomorrow at 1 p.m. for Mellieħa parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment in his wife's family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, would be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. A prayer is solicited.

Sale of antiques

An antiques and old furniture sale will be held in aid of St Helen parish centre at the centre itself in Birkirkara from March 4 to 7 between 5 and 7.30 p.m., on March 8 between 9 a.m. and noon and 4.30 and 7.30 p.m. and on March 9 between 9 a.m. and noon.

Archaeology lecture

A lecture about excavations at the Brochtorff Xagħra Circle will be delivered by prehistoric archaeology senior lecturer Caroline Malone at the National Museum of Archaeology, Valletta, tomorrow at 6 p.m.
