I write in response to the article announcing that Gozo SPCA will cease to rescue and house stray dogs and that manager Betty Berry has resigned following a recent tragic accident, in part a result of their severely compromised facilities in Victoria.

The article goes on to explain the further frustration felt by the SPCA in not being able to secure suitable land for use as dedicated premises in Gozo, despite there being funds to both acquire and facilitate the site suitably.

After all the SPCA's continuous hard work, come rain or shine, shouldn't the Ministry for Gozo give immediate attention to this?

As someone wise once said: "You can tell a lot about a society by the way they treat their elders... their children... and their animals".
