Chelsea hold meeting to urge players to behave

Chelsea officials have held a meeting with the players to urge them to behave, manager Carlo Ancelotti said.

The Premier League leaders issued a reminder to the squad following media allegations surrounding the private lives of captain John Terry and fellow England defender Ashley Cole.

Asked at a news conference about the British newspaper allegations, Ancelotti said: "I don't read the papers because my language is not so good but I know very well what happened."

"We had a meeting this week with the players, it was a good meeting involving (chief executive Ron Gourlay) and we explained to them what is to be the behaviour of the players in this club. Now they know very well what they have to do."

Ancelotti said every member of staff had to be aware of protecting the image of Chelsea.

"It was a private meeting and I don't like to speak about this but the most important thing was that everybody has to pay attention to protect the image of the club," said the Italian ahead of Saturday's league game at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

"Not only the players but all the staff, all the people who work in this club. Ron spoke for the club, for the owner (Roman Abramovich) and the players listened.

"The image of the club is one of the most important things we want to carry forward," added Ancelotti.

Two weeks ago Terry was stripped of the England captaincy after media allegations he had an extra-marital affair with the former girlfriend of England team mate Wayne Bridge.

Bridge was a club mate of Terry's at Chelsea before joining Manchester City last year.
