Sliema Wanderers will be without Ryan Fenech and Alex Muscat for their opening Championship Pool match later on this month after they were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner yesterday.

Fenech and Muscat were dismissed during the Blues' 2-2 draw with Hibernians last Saturday.

The two Malta internationals will now sit out their team's Championship Pool opener against Birkirkara which will be played on the weekend of February 27 and 28.

Qormi's Stephen Wellman was another Premier League player sanctioned yesterday. The lanky defender received a one-match ban after picking his fourth booking of the season in his team's 2-0 defeat to Birkirkara, also on Saturday.

Wellman will now miss Qormi's match against champions Hibernians. For this match, the Paolites will be without winger Edward Herrera who was also handed a one-match ban yesterday.
