FimBank president addresses Russia and Eurasia forum

FimBank president Margrith Lütschg Emmenegger recently addressed the Third Annual Russia and Eurasia Trade Investment Forum, which was held in Moscow. This high-profile event was sponsored by JP Morgan, UniCredit, BNY Mellon, FIMBank and its Russian factoring specialist company FactorRus.

Leading topics discussed included an assessment of the business environment in the region and its effects on the banking sector, the facilitating of trade finance, as well as trade risk management, commodity financing and infrastructure financing within a regional context. The Forum saw the participation of central and regional government officials, senior executives of large companies and SMEs, trade financiers, investment officers and representatives of export credit agencies, amongst others.

Ms Lütschg Emmenegger presented a case study on the subject of "Factoring offering through a joint-venture". In her presentation, FimBank's president gave an insight into the rationale behind factoring, currently considered to be the fastest growing trade finance product. Drawing upon FimBank's own experience in emerging markets, she also spoke about the importance of building strategic partnerships with local institutions in order to deliver factoring products in these markets.
