I would like to congratulate all those who live in St Paul's Bay, Buġibba, Qawra and Burmarrad for their 'interest' in these areas.

On Sunday, January 31, a local council meeting was held in Burmarrad church hall to which all of four people bothered to turn up, including myself!

I would like to know where the rest of the residents were. But I wonder where the person was who wrote recently asking why Qawra/Buġibba were not getting a mini-council of their own. Maybe he was one of the two men there, in which case I apologise.

As a permanent resident I felt I should attend. I again put my point to the mayor, and got the same reply as last year - because of a "lack of funds" the area where I live is not likely to get a facelift.

I also asked about the two hotels that have been closed for over two years. They are private concerns, she replied, and there was nothing she could do but get in touch with the owners.

The reason I asked is because these hotels have become a cats' paradise, which may be just as well as they are keeping the vermin down. Also, there is a large plate glass window that has a large crack in it. It has masking tape down the length of it, but what would happen if this window got a knock? I hope that I am not passing by at that moment.
